Club Talk – Friday 8th January 2016

Supper will be served at 18:30 prior to the talk which will start at 20:00

DYLAN WINTER

Over the Top…

Two years ago, Dylan talked to the Club about his epic pocket cruise around the shore, and in and out of just about every estuary, river and mud creek this glorious island has.

It took Dylan 3 years to navigate from Bembridge to the borders of Scotland in a 40 year old Mirror Offshore (“The Slug”) and a Hunter Minstrel (“Katie L”).

When he last visited the Club he was on the look out for a boat in which to tackle the rounding of the North coast of Scotland! That weekend he found one. A Westerly Centaur called “Harmony”.

So Dylan is going to tell us about how he took his Centaur – together with the family not only over the top but also in and around Shetland and the Orkney’s

Dylan is a professional cameraman and has filmed just about his entire voyage. All of this he makes available to fellow sailors…

    Hey Dylan
Any chance you could film the talk so those of us unable to make the 3000 mile trip to the shamble can enjoy it?

I will take the camera with me and see if I can pick some-one in the front row to point it in my general direction

although I do tend to walk around a bit when talking to an audience

Great if you could film it. Too far from Australia to go. Don’t care about the quality, its the content that we want.

  4. 5 January, 2016 at 3:36 amSteve says:

Even just the audio of your talk would be good.

Hope the talk went well Dylan – I would love to have attended as not too far from me but diary had been blocked by SWMBO.

Like NormanB above I would have loved to attend as quite nearby but our Club AGM conflicted. Hope all went as planned and look forward to your report!

twice as many people as the last time

    they seemed to enjoy it

the bloke who was doing the sound said that I come across as a “disorganised Clarkson!”

    is that a good thing?

  13. 9 January, 2016 at 2:05 pmdylan winter says:

always do what she says – happy houses are run by women

Jill says it is a fact – and I believe her

  14. 11 January, 2016 at 7:00 pmGraham Tipple says:

Not necessarily good but probably better than an “organised Clarkson” which could be very infuriating. Perhaps the sound man was just referring to your well known enthusiasm!!.

  15. 11 January, 2016 at 7:34 pmdylan winter says:

I think that is what he meant – also my talks are a bit unstructured

  16. 17 January, 2016 at 6:30 pmJ. Peter Haliburton says:

I wasn’t sure who you were being compared to at first, and then it hit me as probably Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson.

  17. 17 January, 2016 at 6:42 pmdylan winter says:

that was the one…. I guess I am a bit outspoken and use curious word patterns. Speak with energy I guess. I will take it as a complement. The bloke is as rich as Croesus.
