Live streaming web cam

Technology is moving so fast

I have often thought that when I am going up some of the rivers live streaming would be an amazing thing to do.

Imagine watching some bloke shoving his bow up a Chesapeake creek live - bit of a thrill I think

I currently get my mobile connections from EE on a pay as you go dongle

they have sent me an email talking about their live action waterproof camera

what would really improve the films would be a drone

Some of the new drones can be pre-programmed just to hover-above at altitude and follow you on-the-move as the camera pans-about. Recovering a drone on a moving boat seems a bit daunting, though they’re starting to make water-proof drones that can land and take-off from the water — water-poof cameras are also improving.

I’d love to at-some-point do just that, nose up some of the Chesapeake and Delaware creeks just to record them. Some much of our maritime and riverine history is disappearing and being forgotten. Not just the natural beauty, but also the vitality of traditional agriculture and industry being lost to neglect or residential redevelopment.

Please do that Ted…. I really want to see those creeks. I read the book Chesapeake by Mitchenor. Really makes me want to see the place.

    Me too,
I’ve only explored a tiny part of the C’bay and I’ve been sailing there on and off since the mid ’80s.
I’m trying to find time to fix up a boat to do my own exploring on C’bay.
And I got the smallest thing I could afford to minimize the things that need fixing too!

There was a delivery capt who would mount a live feed cam on the power boats he was delivering
Good to whatch when you caught it right , Florida and Caribbean ports, I’ll see if I can find the link.
The live feed from port Everglades port at about 4-7 pm is interesting when the cruise ship monsters all leave the harbour every 10 minutes…

I have been trying to work out how to talk the missus into a decent drone for a while now… You could do some amazing things with your films with the help of a drone D. The phantom 3 is not that expensive and is used by pros. If you let go of the sticks they just hover. If you turn your transmitter off or loose signal, they use GPS to just fly back to there starting point and hover. You don’t need to land them, you can just bring them back and grab them out of the air. There are details and videos around of guys making floats for them to land on the water. One of the popular sailing channels on youtube where some young people are sailing around the world (cant remember which one), they use one in their films. Imagine the images/film you could get along those amazing cliffs with your boat sailing beneath! Here’s the Phantom 3 http://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/dji-phantom-3-drone-4k/
