Snaps from the past few days of meandering around the Scottish Coast

Finally got some bandwidth here at Oban marina so here are some snaps from the past few days

Bazza is a great lakes sailor so has never seen tides

so we showed him some real corkers

Cuan, Luing and Corryvrekken

Corryvrekken was mostly a pussy cat - an hour before we watched a bloke tow a rubber through so we  knew we wuld  be fine

it did kick up a bit though when the flow spewed out into the oncoming atlantic rollers

the weather has been excellent - too good to be true, the tides have been magnificent and the scenery - well what can I say

the finest cruising ground in the world

cuan 1 cuan 2 oban tall ship oban  S1990020 yard S1970001 crinan S1970004 leaving crinan ardfern cuan crinan cutie crinan sunset crinann 2 evening sail

and finally here at Oban marina

a mac with a patio

S1990016 mac 1

mac patio 2

Baz and i are heading home in the morning - then Jill, myself and the dog are coming back weds to start the summer exploring

This is about Dylan Winter's Blog.

Lovely pics, D, and I like the idea of a Mac cottage with patio by the sea!! Hurry back up there and Bon Voyage!

More of a deck than a patio. And he seems to be signalling ‘affirmative’ though we don’t know the question. I suspect that it is something like: Is the sun over your yardarm?

Good lord why didn’t he just buy a caravan ! Thought I had seen it all.

My old sailing buddy used to sail a maxi 25 out of Ardfern (sadly passed away 4 years ago) but latterly he bought a 4 masted schooner in Turkey and sailed it back to Ardfern – any sign of it there ?

Nice pics, wondered where you’d got to! What’s a mac, just a scottish prefix or some derogatory abbreviation for a white plastic boat with no sails?

You were right, nice spot in Crinan. Will advise on dinner later. I want to see a couple of deserted orphans on the quayside tomorrow, begging for a lift.

Great scenery! I am looking forward to the video of the canals and the tide races. By any standards this has been quite a substantial voyage. Well done. I shall drink some whisky to you this evening (seems appropriate).

If all the boats in all the world went asailing there wouldn’t be room for us. Damn good job if some don’t make it to the water if you ask me. Probably frightened himself when he went asailing without the water ballast!

I know some people who would say that a MacGregor 26 is better on the land than the water.

Well at least the guy with the mac. has parked her on polystyrene to insulate from the permafrost .

He has got his fenders down so I think you are all being very cynical
