The Old bar

I spent a quiet night in Hopeman harbour and left aas soon as there was enough water to get out.

then I sailed and motored up the coast and turned into the Old bar estuary at about three. I at anchor inĀ  4.5m water. It will be great watching the landscape change as the tide ebbs.

Been wanting to spend a night in here for ages. Seals and birds all over the place and also a lot of sticks in the water - no idea why. Muscle beds?

Im no historian but I thought it was to deter German glider/seaplane landings during WW2.
It was very busy there for a while ,they did Dday landing practice there for some weeks, coming across from Invergordon, where my Aunty Jean was stationed at the time. She had to queue for over 2 hours to get into the local cinema as there were so many soldiers around.

Please send me your address, Dylan. I have just recently discovered KTL and would like to send an early/late birthday present.
I hope on your way south you put into Kippford on the Solway. It must be one of the UK’s loveliest sailing venues.
    Keep up the good work.
