Gosh – very revealing indeed Dylan. Your thoughts about the Orwell mirror mine when I went back to the River Fal recently after sailing there in the late 60′s, marinas, moorings, boats everywhere. I haven’t yet managed to sail that one in my own boat yet, so I’m jealous.

hope I did not give too much away – the bit between wolverstone and Ipswich is fine – but the rest has far too many boats – agree

but just around the corner is the stour and the delightful backwaters. Two of the loveliest bits of the east coast. D

Vlaamse Zeezeilschool is actually based at Nieuwpoort BE where I refitted my boat. Sadly only saw this after I left otherwise I would have had a word since I used to drink with the sailing school director :)

Informative and enjoyable as always Dylan. The Stour, Orwell and Colne are on my list for this autumn’s sailing plans. I note that you use a laptop on board and would value your opinion on the Imray North Sea charts which have recently been developed for computer use. They do seem great value. All the best, Roger – on board DRIFTER based at Walton.
