When I bought my Javelin wetsuit in the 80s I didn’t get one of those young ladies with it, Trust me to miss out.
Commonly seen in the 70’s around climbing bars in Wales and the Lakes, mountaineers like Chris Bonnington took them on his expeditions for extra warmth and comfort. Clearly one thing that hasn’t change: zips, you sometimes need to find help to start them off!
Loved my old Javelin jacket – warm as toast….
Your livin in the past mate, livin in the past! Fleece jackets took over a long time ago, nonetheless I do remember a time when I really wanted a Javelin jacket.
I’ve always regarded pile as superior to fleece, now I can see why.
My mum bought my Javelin jacket for me when I was 12 (1979!). I lived in it for 3 years.
I still have mine… pants and jacket and even wear them once in a while :-)
Dear Sir,
I am concerned about some of the content being presented on this website. I thoroughly enjoy it of course and while this particular item is very welcome there does seem to be an unnecessary preponderance of sailing-related items and an insufficiency of old adverts and pictures of your assistant.
Yours etc.
The way things are going the spooks from GCHQ will soon be able to see into our boat porn activities…
We need to be vigilant.
I plead guilty.
G
Javelin jacket, red trousers and yellow wellies.
Still got mine – must be at least 25 years old – and I still use it regularly – the Javlin jacket I mean!
No!
Don’t dilute.
Don’t pollute… with non-boat content.
Never. Ever.
