KTL1 – Blackwater Colne and the Walton Backwater
I spent a year exploring every creek and river along this wonderful slice of coast. This is classic East Coast sailing as I push my bow up waterways ranging from Beaumont Channel – the 20 foot wide tidal canal built by the Romans to the very top of the Colne and across the wide, beautiful expanses of the Blackwater. The films are a mixture of boat porn from Maldon as I take you on a melancholic tour of the boat yards of Maldon with their rotting carcases of East Coast classics to the energy of the sailing youth of Brightlingsea. I also take you on a tour of the Walton backwaters. £15 or $25 – dylan.winter@virgin.net.

KTL 2 The Stour,Orwell, Deben and Ore and Butley
These rivers offer some of the best sailing on the East Coast ranging from the commercially active deep water of the mighty Orwell with its docks and snaking channel which contrasts with the utter peace and quiet of the Butley which is undoudountedly one of Britain’s Shallow water classics. I spent a wonderful winter on the Ore abd Butley as I explored the shifting shingle of the Ore bar and learned about the weird history of Orford. £15 or $25 – dylan.winter@virgin.net

KTL 3 The Alde, Blyth and the Broads
The toughest winter months were spent on the Alde and at Iken Cliff. The it was out into the North sea for the journey around to Southwold – which is easily the poshest town of the trip so far. The year ended on the Norfolk Broads which offer many miles of tranquil inland sailing where the tide runs but the the water level does not change. I spent a day filming the Three Rivers Race and spent some time sailing with the gentlemen of the Lady Yacht Club. £15 or $25 – dylan.winter@virgin.net
