Adventurous Andreas from Norway and the perfect anchorage

Hi Dylan

Great hearing from you! My first proper sailing trip was with one of your countrymen who lives up here and needed assistance getting his boat over, via Shetland. So I've been there! But didn't spend a month. We did Shetland to Ålesund in 48 hours or so. 36 would be Bergen, I think. The wind speed indicator said we had 60 knots in the back. It was probably not trustworthy, but we were fast and tore the mainsail.
Boat snap: Let me send you two of my boat anchored out here: https://goo.gl/maps/kKfnLpT6KC52 Look at the fog sneaking in in the background. We lost sight of the boat when we were rowing back because of that fog. My boat is an ALO28, classic plastic.
Let me add another: See what kind of boat that is, where that is? That was among my best five sails. Looked like you enjoyed it too.
Cheers,
Andreas

Looks like one of the Hunter’s fleet on the Broads. Either a Wood or Lullaby. Quite a contrast to the other pixs.

Oh dear, got that wrong. If I had bothered to enlarge the pix would have seen it is one of the Hustlers.

If only. Just happened to have been a Friend of Hunters since the Norolf Heritage Fleet Trust took over the fleet in 1996. Sadly only sailed one of their cabin boats, Wood Anemone, but have sailed their Dayboats a few times; the Waveley One Design ‘Sundew’ and also ‘Buff Tip’ their Yare & Bure One Design. If you were up for a change might be worth you trying out one of their boats, even over night under and awning. Would be interesting to have your views on film. A worthy cause.

we had a week’s holiday on one of the martham boats when the kids were seven and ten.
In october – jolly good week.
I am saving the Broads for when I am an old one – at the moment while I am fit and full of energy I am focussing on getting back to the tough places of Britain

Learnt to sail, sorry, had my earliest sailing experiences on the Norfolk Broads with the Boys Brigade believe it or not. We went every Easter for a week and some years it snowed. We did hire some Hustlers one year. Some of the best sailing memories I have.
