Dornoch to Lossie

We woke in the marvellous sandy landscape behind Inver Bar with its 360 degree shelter. It is a place I shall use again - as long as the miltary do not come to tell me to sling my hook -   for quiet nights to hide from the wind.

Once the tide arrived we snuck along the coast past Portmahomac and around Tarbet Head. The tide was ebbing by now so my plan was to sneak along the north coast of the Moray Firth and then cut across on a reach and back up to Lossie with the tide under us.

Three dolphins joined us along the coast - no idea why they hang around the boat. We were not going fast enough to create any sort of bow wave. They were tail slapping a fair bit and stayed with us for around half an hour. Then we turned across the Moray and found ourselves at Findhorn. A 10 mile fetch up the coast with the tide under us got us back to Lossie at about seven.
