Happy Punter

I came across a Yankee Punter - he had seen my posts proseltysing over the health benefits of punting. It took him two years before he got around to building the punt. He lives in a perfect place for punting.

and on his website - there are some build pictures there as well as some shots from his latest exploits.

It looks as though he is really enjoying his sailing. This winter it will be just the punt so I am really looking forward to getting mine out

if you want to see how well they sail watch this from Lurch in essex

I’m interested in the 12ft punt. How does it sail, especially upwind?

    this is what Chris says

Dan Noyes’ punt is 12′ long and based off the John Milgate punt. I’m not going to put words in Dan’s mouth, but I remember him saying he wanted to keep the beam amidships the same, and was especially careful to maintain the angle between the bottom and the sides of the boat. She’s built of pine and oak, not ply, so he carries her momentum well. I found her to be very stable, well behaved, and easily steered, but a bit slower than MRS MUMBLES. Her pointing was OK, but could have been due to her dipping lug rig. I will forward this to him, maybe he can chime in.
