St Peters chapel on Bradwell. It has been a beacon to genereations of East Coast sailors. The Chapel is built using the stones brought here by the Romans but the story of St Peter is a tragic one – especially for his friends and followers. The Chapel is a wonderfully atmospheric place to visit – but once you know the story of what happened here then it takes on a whole new dimesnion as an experience. You cannot undertake a journey like this around the UK without bumping into religious beliefs. There were gods here long before the Romans came to these islands and there will be gods here after the Christians have gone.
