Duck Punt Films- a developing genre

There are now around 40 duck punts the other side of the pond.

Some of the owners are getting pretty creative on their filming

here is Rusty Knorr

and here is the man who films the motherload

Lurch1

and here

I know I say this every year lads but if you are going to achieve one thing this winter then it should be to build a duck punt.

This is about Duck Punt films, Dylan Winter's Blog.

I like the dynamic of attaching the camera to a moving part – the boom and especially the oar – makes for great footage…

I’m sorely tempted to build one of these this winter Mr Winter. I’ve tracked down the pdf plans, all I’ve got to do is clear all that shite out of the garage and make a trip to B&Q ! I do fancy a wooden stick and red canvas . Let you know how it pans out……… Jack

my advice is to keep the shape of the thing but make it as light as possible otherwise getting it on and off the roof of the car is a bit of a challenge. They are brilliant fun to sail that is for sure. The Mercans are getting rather keen on them

Thanks for the advise Dylan…… I tend to “over engineer ” if that’s a fault Ha!

over engineering is deffo a fault when it comes to things you have to pick up on your shoulder

repairing thin ply if you do make a hole in it is dead simple

use thin wpb ply – not marine

2 x 1 and door arictrave for the scantlings, floor, mast step etc.

also use polyester rather than epoxy – cheaper and easier to use and will outlive us both
