One further thing to add – the use of the German fleet as a source of steel uncontaminated by radiation from nuclear bombs and tests.

Dylan, I’ve now watched this video on my android tablet this morning and after a fine roast lamb lunch settled in to watch it again firstly via vimeo and then again via YouTube. Both were chromecast from the Internet to my 50 incher and sound box.
Both the same sound levels unlike the tablet where the volume differed depending whether it was on camera sound or you adding your commentary.
I hate to admit it but YouTube’s version was more…. HD in visual, but that maybe just me.That said, still bloody brilliant, tapping to follow !

      you are dead right

      youtube delivers a marvelous stream

I assume if you wanted to watch it at its best then if you downloaded it and the used chrome to play it on

and then cast that to your telly

but if the youtube things looks good – why not

      they deliver it for free

vimeo costs me £200 a year

I am a great fan of google technology – it is just their interpersonal skills are not quite as good as they could be

and now they are big enough to be rude to governments as well

Thanks for adding the links. Hoy Polloy! I see we have the approximate location of Gunther burial at sea. Have to be impressed at the courage and skills of this 33 year old. Not so impressed by the fanaticism though. Thanks Dylan.

I love the web and the way that it allows you to dig as deep as you like into parts of the past like following roots down through soil. He was a genius, brave bloke but had rather signed up to the whole raft of Nazi ideas. I assume he and his crew thought they were pretty much on a suicide mission.

damn we cam so close to a completely different world.

Of the 859 u-boats that were built more than 700 were lost and three quarters of the 40,000 submariners who took them to sea never returned. Sounds pretty much suicidal to me.

I once boarded a submarine, on dry land, at the Speyer museum in Germany. It was a later model, built in 1967. Claustrophobia is not a strong enough word, ten minutes was enough for me even with the hatches open.

Nice one, not sure you’ve grasped the principles of “drying out” though ;-)

I agree – cut it too fine – but I got rid of tthe weed,

Hoping to go up the helford for an overnight

don’t suppose you know anyone locally who would look after Maggie for 36 hours,

she loves her food and will follow anyone with food in their pocket

she will happily sleep in a garage attached to the house

I sat Maggie down and explained how you do not love her enough to drive a 12 hour round trip to pick her up

I could see the sadness in her eyes
