I have decided to start selling KTL branded toolkits - the price for the luxury toolroll including everything you could ever need to accomplish running repairs on any small boat will be $500. Imagine how jealous and impressed your fellow sailors will be when you walk down the dock with the KTL Toolkit tucked under your arm. You are sure to beĀ  the envy of your friends and attract many girls.

This is about Dylan Winter's Blog.

My problem is that I inherit tool kits–from my dad, my father-in-law, my sons whose college tool kits have been returned after they graduated and purchased their own—so that when I bought my boat five years ago a lot of that kit moved aboard. (Many items were redundant at home, anyway, so why not keep them handy on the mooring?)

Trouble is, now s/v Assignment lists, from the weight of all those pliers and spanners! Not to mention spares: Shackles, cleats, hooks, clamps, all manner of stainless bolts and self-tapping screws, not to mention specialized wiring connectors and the racheting crimper for them.

    Any suggestions?

Hi Dylan, I found that some of the fastenings on my Hurley were BSF/Whitworth, but luckily have an old motorcycle and had plenty of spare spanners that fit!
Lots of WD40 helps keep the rust at bay and helps the threads on all those mole grips free. Have to agree about the Seagull, but they were designed in the 1930s, long before the word ‘pollution’ existed!

Hey. This toolkit looks like the one my Dad use to keep in the old John Deere “B”!!! Dylan’s kit is a little bit cleaner though!!!

no rubber mallet? I’d hesitate to leave the dock without what my daughters and I call the ‘encourager’ as in encourages stuck things to come loose….

“when you walk down the dock with the KTL Toolkit tucked under you are. ”
I imagine that is a typo at the end of that sentence but I’m struggling to figure out if you missed a letter out or mistyped one…..
