Shell Boats schooner 18
here are the snaps of Torrey’s boat
well done that man
The Yanks sure like the unusual, can only imagine its evolutionary path !!!
Doing away with a tiller explains the wheel, but it looks so uncomfortably tacked on. Engine access not too good either, I wonder if they considered a well………..
Interesting boat, intended primarily for lakes I think.
I’m the proud owner of one of these. I sail it all over Tampa Bay in Florida. We have very shallow water so the small draught is perfect. Can’t tell you how much I love this boat. Surprised you don’t see more aft cabins… They have so many advantages (more space, better visibility, can easily go forward to tend sails, anchor etc. like a dinghy, can shelter from sun and rain while still sailing, I could go on and on.) someone mentioned the problem with accessing the motor- not too tough to do but yeah a little but of a pain (of course all engines are a pain). The website mentions that the aft cabin serves as a nice buffer between the skipper and the engine noise. The boat is so light that I just use the oars instead.
send snaps asap
Good day! Might you still be in the Tampa area? Have been contemplating this design for sometime now. Talked to Mr. Shell a week ago regarding 21′ Schooner. Would really like to take a peek at yours if possible and bring my sons. I live in Lakeland and my father lives in Gulfport so I’m pretty much right next door. Don’t want to impose, though. Sincerely, Paul.
