I am an Australian with an English mother, Welsh father, and Scottish grandmother (like everyone else that lives outside the UK, there’s a bit of Irish in there too somewhere..) I know my opinion is irrelevant but I don’t think much of that. If and when you guys go and mess up your nice flag, I sure hope whichever bunch of mongs is running my country at the time, doesn’t decide to dump the Union jack from the corner of ours too. Not being political or anything, I just like that nice pretty colourful pattern! :-)

Well I’m ignorant of the politics of it and how you all feel about that over, there but from the other side of the beach ball here, it just seems a bit sad for some reason :-(

Well I thought Scotland had a referendum and voted not leave the union.
But they have a promise to get more autonomy ( smith commission) form new government. .
If they want to pay for their own issues fine.
But still part of the UK.

I live in the constituency owned by Bercow the speaker – so get no vote. It is the system.

As a Scot I hope not to be leaving. Already had referendum and the answer was no. Apart from the 45/55 split there was a good number of people who did not vote, so it has to be assumed they did not want change as the only way to get change was to vote. So the actual split was probably nearer 40/60 against. Some people can’t seem to take no for an answer even when they are the minority. The SNP seem to think that they speak for all Scots but they do not. They only got half of the two thirds people who voted in the general election, so that’s only one third. I thought this was a sailing blog!

    it is

wait until I get stuck into Scottish history…. that might upset a few people whose reading of history comes via Mel Gibson or Sir Walter Scott

    for starters….. the clearances…. it wasn’t us

it was Scottish born toffs that did it not the English born ones

then there is the Aulde Alliance – bloody nora boys… you guys and the French – what is it with you chaps

as for the repeated invasions – the last time you lads got down as far as Derby…. Derby!

that is way too close for comfort

Robert the Bruce – he murdered his best rival …. in a church no less

As for William Wallace – bloody frightening man who set about killing anyone who spoke Emglish
