I live in the country so we get wonderful sunsets, but I miss the glories of the nightime sky.

There’s enough light-pollution these days on the US East Coast that other than a few primary stars and the Moon, there’s no night sky anymore. Forty–fifty years ago (yikes!!) as a boy you could still see the Milky Way, now you’re lucky to make-out the Big and Little Dippers for the glare and cloud refllection. Orion is about the only major constellation regularly recognizable anymore. Even deep in the Jersey Pine Barrens there is so much development along the Jersey coast that it never gets really dark anymore.
