You’ve created a Movement, not just a Cause.

the leader of the movement has hit the rocks – which seems appropriate

Auckt*, …just an abnormal spot of low water due to strange winds and a low tide. A brief moment on the soft mud of Fortuna and soon to be re-floated off.

    too early steve

not got the cash yet – and will not have it until the autumn at the earliest – probably more like mid winter before I know if this plan is going to provide sustainable income. Like to see a link though – no harm in watching the market

me neither – I had a look. besides the late autumn is the time to buy old boats.

Fishers are way over priced and very few with bilge keels
Keep looking. Some of the colvic even if amature finished can be great buys . People will spend I Saint amounts of money on a boat then sell for next to nothing.
You are a good Judge of a boat, go with condition and design not the name.
The fishers are ok but they have all the usual problems like leaky Windows etc.
    Cheers Warren

they are easy to buy and easy to sell

buying a boat that has been well looked after by a rich man will be easy to buy, quick to start sailing in and easy to sell.

The Ancients were wise to worship — and fear — the goddesses of Fate and Fortuna as they work invisibly on our lives in strange ways. Yet their youngest sister, Serendipity, is the most unexpected yet influencial. The Old Norse pagan in my blood is in awe of all their Provenience.

Just as I have the greatest respect for their cousin, Murphy.

The original Fisher Freewards are renowed seaboats. and like all fishers the layup is very heavy. Talking of “well looked after by a rich man” try this one Dylan –

£20k spend and selling at under £19k!

And there’s more standard F25s and Freewards on the FOA classified, one link back.

I write as a Fisher owner who has indulged himself too! But I’ve got the boat I want and intend to keep til my tide runs out.

The Freewards are probably no better than a Centaur for what I need. Centaurs are excellent sea boats. The accommodation is second to none. They can take a lot of terrible weather – especially under engine when that prop is running is completely clear water between the keels. They turn on a sixpence. With a freeward you are still out in the scottish rain when under way. Ultimately, as an old bloke the rain and the cold are my enemies. I know that if I am inside I can sail longer and further.

I also think that with a enough sails up – say a well cut ghoster you could get her moving . I am sure I would find myself messing with staysails and spinnakers just for fun.

So, an honest answer – your top speed through the water under sail – beam reach lots of wind – flat water.
