We cast off the mooring at about nine and drifted out with the tide along the labyrinthine channel out of Arisaig. Giving the GPSto the local ferryman to take on a trip to Rhum was genius though I say so myself so we just followed the GPS Track. The journey around Arnamurchan point and into the Sound of Mull was a bloomin delight.Beam rech, 10 mph of wind, six knots. It could not have been better.
We went into Lock Drambuie, which lies between Oronsay and the mainland. It is utterly perfect - about 300 aceres and all the sounds are natural - the birds, a stream running into one corner of the loch and that was it.
There was a group pf six blokes with sailing canoes camping on one little beach and one other yacht
We dropped the hook and watched sun go down. A perfectly quiet night apart from the gentle rumble of the anchor chain.
The blokes in the sailing canoes, were they members of the Open Canoe Sailing Group.. often to be found in Scotland?
It was us, we aren’t from the Open Canoe Sailing club, good job really because I am the one who left his sail in the garage 400 miles away lol, we are just friends who enjoy canoeing (four of us are in the Canoe Camping Club) will post pictures you requested when I find out how.
Good to meet you BTW happy sailing. (I caught four pollock that day)
Cheers
Tim
