Bits of Scotland – drone promo for charter company

those sand estuaries look wonderful. I am still unsure about the high drone shots - they really take you out of the boat. However, drones are very good at tracking a passing boat - I think low shots with a drone 50 feet from the boat and at head height might work. Am I ready to risk drowning £1,000 worth of drone.... nope.

I thought drowning a drone was a right of passage to being a “you tuber”

Hopefully its whetting the appetite for you to get back out there.

Dylan, you’re absolutely right: first get something to film, then something to film it with – especially if one drone equals one foot of Fisher 25!

Dylan, have you thought of investing in a drone?
Marvellous though your films are, done footage does add another dimension.

I think at present prices, a good quality drone with a high definition camera is a rich boy’s toy.
Let’s see what happens to prices in time.

Have you thought of using time-lapsed photography?
A camera mounted somewhere at the bow or stern (or maybe top of the mast?) taking a photo, once an hour (maybe 30 minutes?) day and night, throughout a week?

You can’t fool me, it’s cold wet and windy 98% of the time! You need a boat that size to enjoy it!!

This guy does a good job of leaving his drone in hover while he make his semi informationa video , espically the end where he does not have controls in his hands , first Time I’ve seen that shot used extensively over water…..and he has no money to waste….
I know he looks a bit wasted but he grows on you.
He did some great repairs after running on a reef too..
    Cheers Warren.

So if you really want a challenge try flying drone while racing on the Volvo ocean race
The Friday,1/12/18 YouTube feed had an interview with Rick Tomlinson famous sailing photographer and race sailor. Talked about the use of drone during the race! Wow!
If anybody has watched the use of drones off moving sailboats try doing it during a race where they won’t slow down to let you land the drone you will appreciate the stress involved!
Perfect video watching for this cold and sunny winters day
