The Caribbean seems to be getting crowded with vloggers
Ran sailing have now been travelling with the old sea dog.
this is the old sea dog
it is beginning to remind me of the classic Monty Python Alan Wicker sketch
Spot on D, one really has to choose between them or you can sit there all day. BTW I’m going to see John Cleese in DK next year where he will be doing his ‘last chance to see me before I die’ tour.
Hehhehheh, reminds me of my favorite quote from “The Hunt for Red October”;
– Jeffrey Pelt: Mr. Ambassador, you have nearly a hundred naval vessels operating in the North Atlantic right now. Your aircraft has dropped enough sonar buoys so that a man could walk from Greenland to Iceland to Scotland without getting his feet wet. Now, shall we dispense with the bull?
– Ambassador Lysenko: You make your point as delicately as ever, Mr. Pelt.
…Seriously, I suspect too-many are just chasing YouTube Dollars and Patreon click-bait, rather than having an authentic POV to share. Hence the bikini-clad rank-amateurs blundering-about committing public narcissism afloat on a shoe-string budget.
Sadly, Hurricanes Irma and Maria failed to thin-the-herd and cull the losers and fame-chasers sufficiently..
Well I do not think there is anything that smacks of a lack of authenticity by either RAN Sailing or Adventures of an Old Seadog.
If you don’t like them don’t watch them.
They both happen (coincidence) to be passing through the Caribbean at the same time.
Get over it.
And if you listen to Barry Perrins he feels the same way and tries to stay away from crowds.
Seeing these genuine interesting folks meet up warms my heart.
Sure we all like to sail to getaway from the rat race or what ever drives you but enjoying social interaction from time to time is definatly part of the experience. The people you interview , typically not sailors , are some of the most interesting parts of your video. Think” The shop keeper with nobody to take over , the man growing lupins, the kid catching crabs……”
The true long term cruisers are definatly a community it just makes sense to be friends.
Cheers Warren
Ps I don’t like term ‘liveboards’ as they tend to not be cruisers, a differently community
Btw great find of monty python clip…….perfect!
Cheers Warren
