Cullipool, Easdale, Arduaine, Dunstaffnage

The weather continues to be unbelievably perfect - we landed at Cullipool and walked around the slate workings. Then onwards to Easdale where the flooded slate quarries create brillliant reflections with the sea in the background. The old quarries are lovely for s fresh water swim.
Onwards to DunStaffnage and some land travelling which included the bridge over the Atlantic. This was a Telford conbstructionb - so steep that it must have been really tough on the horses. Finallly to the sublime Arduaine Gardens.

This morning we headed upm the sound of the Mull anbd are currently at anchor in Lochaline.

Love the mushroom anchors in #27
I think that the steam paddle wheeler is ‘Waverley’ last active one or something.
    Goes all round the country.
    Almost getting jealous here!

there have been times over the past few days when I have been jealous of myself – I know that the scottish weather wil get its revenge and there will be days when I will look at the heat, sun and beauty in these images while sitting under the cockpit tent in the rain. but right now…. wow!

we heard it first – . then we saw it come around a headland it makes a very weird water slapping noise. I wondered about how it would sound on the Thames or the Tyne 100 years ago when you might hear three or four of them as they started to syncopate and drifted in and out of phase

Wow indeed – I hope the weather holds. I saw the Waverley in Loch Long from the train window as I was travelling home – that train journey is another Highland delight.

Looks amazing – been a fantastic spell of weather over west, my folks (who are in Lochgilphead next to the Crinan Canal) have been gloating! Bet you’re getting some great footage and hopefully this year will make up for the fairly crummy weather you’ve had over the last 2 years in Scotland. I also can’t wait to hear your pronunciation of the place names – there’s some crackers over there :)

How weird would it be if global warming turned old Scotland into the new Caribbean

I am sure that I will mangle a few pronunciations – but then I come from Holloway in London – and the majority of outsiders pronounce it wrong – for us locals the H is silent

thanks SLE – it is a brilliant place to play with a camera – the susnets are stunning and go on for hours. The whole sunset is about three hours and starts at about 8 and does not really end until 10.30 or so

Loch Feochan – did you find the entrance OK or tricky?

I like tricky entrances – I did not hit the bottom so it must have been okay
