Sail to Scotland and forget to turn south! Amazing scenery up there but just a little off the beaten path.

As usual, presses submit then put brain in gear…

As shown there is a great deal of industrial mining detritus around parts of Svalbard. It does not appear to be going anywhere. However, as has been noted in the media of late, especially post David Attenborough’s comments on the plastic pollution in the sea. So, anyone going anywhere, be it remote or a popular destination, it would be very helpful if they were to take a little time to check out what they found along beaches and the like, even mid-ocean. No doubt there is an organisation that would like to hear from them to add to their research into this – I am not sure who it is so help with identifying would be great. So, Dylan, when you get going again please add your two pennyworth to this (as you have mentioned in the past). Ted

Brave being in ice with a fibreglass hull. We just got back from a tour of Svalbard in Russian icebreaker. I was strongly advised only to sail there with an ice strengthened boat, but well done Drake
