Have you got a motor yet? I may be able to help (if I can find it, just moved house)

I have something similar but the motor and crank are separate. its a 24 volt system that I got about 10-11 years ago and never used. I put power on it when new but its been in a bag ever since. I don’t want it you can have for free but there are no instructions.

    Bear with me on this…

You are thinking of getting …..

    Bike £350.00
    Motor £350.00
    Battery £250.00

    That makes £950..

I was in Halfords this morning any there’s a cracking e bike for £1000.00

    http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/electric-bikes/carrera-vulcan-electric-mountain-bike

Ready built, gaurenteed, etc.etc. and it’s got suspension !

Agreed it’s got a nut crusher of a saddle but that’s easily changed

That said I’m still thinking of putting a motor on mine, but then i already have the bike.

I can’t wait to see how it all fits together.

    Cheers

    Richard

    that is true….

but this is a mid drive that works through the gears

to that bike I would need to add mudguards, racks, and it woud be uncomfortable

I realise the economics of this venture are highly marginal…..

but if all goes well I should end up with a £2,000 mid drive bike that cost me shy of £900

forgetting the cost of the ferry of course.

However, if it works I could start importing the bikes and converting them

that may be true – although on the ferry today I met a bloke who earns his living by buying cars in the UK, moving theem to holland where he moves the steering wheel and controls to the other side of the car. It takes him 40 hours and he adds £3K to the value of the car… which surprised me not a little

You could dig your Raleigh Runabout out of the shed, fit one of the electric wheels and develop your own unique hybrid.
    Or maybe not…
