KTL West Country Rivers 1 – Mylor and England’s last sailing fishermen 144 x 256

Dear Sailors of small boats,

This is the first of four films I made about a winter I spent on the Fal - that was just after buying Lily M and before moving her to scotland.

This one runs to 15 minutes long.

Part two is about the upper reaches of the Fal and that is just over nine minutes long.

Part 3 is about a 20 mile trip to the Fowey - that one is 19 minutes long and finally

Part 4 which is the trip to the Helford - that is 12 minutes long.

The links to the low bandwidth  versions are in the navigation on the right hand side of the page. KTL 13.

The delivery trip journey, now labelled as KTL 14,  is split into two 30 minute episodes -

they all look and sound  goodenough on a phone

If you want a slightly more immersive experience then the high bandwidth and downloadable  versions of this film are  available just three clicks away.

If you watch this on a big TV it is good enough to make you feel queesy.

this paypal link will take you to the 4K version of this page.  You can leave comments on both pages.

If you lose the page, or accidentally close it , then you should be able to find it in your browser history.  Feel free to email it to a friend or yourself so it will be in your inbox.   Feel free to download the film at whatever resolution you want. Feel free to put the films on memory sticks. Feel free to copy them for your friends.

If you spot a horrible glitch in one of the 4K versions please let me know and I will re-open the file and get rid of the snag.

$1 to download or stream in 4K

I am reasonably confident that the mechanics of this idea will work and it does seem better for the planet  than stuffing DVDs into jiffy bags and flyting them to small boat sailors in Arkansas or Adelaide.

Please email me on [email protected] if the mechanics of this fail.  I am an old bloke and coding is the dullest thing I have ever done.  Meticulously copying and pasting acres of meaningless strings of letters, digits and punctuation marks is a truly terrible way to spend a day.

If this works I will buy a warm boat for scotland

Dylan

    Dylan’s back….yay !!

it’s like you’ve never been away, great footage, informative narrative… what’s not to like !

Loving the oyster fishermen….but man what a life…. do they get a government grant to do that ?

I’m buggered if I’d get up at all hours and go out in all weathers to do that… so fair play to ’em.

    Oysters…discuss…

Amy, my daughter in law, just about sums it up….

“they say that you can taste the sea when you eat an oyster…. well I’ve tasted the sea and I don’t like it !”

    ’nuff said really

      I have eaten one oyster

      not nice

I think that the sailing fishermen worked bloody hard

today;s fishermen don’t know they have been born.

If course when it was raining they were still working while I was hiding under the hood making tea

    Hi Dylan,
Nice to see you back in action. Does the new Centaur and prolonged period of activity mean retirement has finally arrived??
Looking forward to seeing your take on all my old Cornish haunts where I grew up on the water. Brings back memories of a less frantic time.
    Bye for now.

    Mark.

    Hi Dylan,
Great to see you back. I have to say I agree with Martijn, the low res both on YT and vimeo dont do your movies justice and just look poor even on my Tab.
As an MOB, I feel I have enough pointless clicking and entering and box checking in every day life without now having to go through these unnecessary steps just to have a similiar experience watching your extremely enjoyably movies in good quality.
I too have tapped in the past and am happy to do so again, but please find an alternative to this new unnecessary faff, as forme, having to capitulate into this modern clickerty click world everytime just takes some of the good out of your movie watching experience.

My wife who has listened to my version of your saga since the beginning says, “don’t cast you pearls before swine.” You’re our man in the sailboat and video trenches and we know you’ve tried almost everything to make it work for all of us.. We are with you. AND now with this repetition I will remember my PayPal password for the win.

Looks like I am going to need a PayPal account. I have been trying to avoid it but I’ll do what ever works. Thanks Dylan.

*Please* consider approaching Amazon tv. There is now a UK narrowboater on there (he also couldl not/did not want to rely on Youtube earnings) and one on the BBC. This stuff is marketable right now – lots of interest in boats and sailing.
I know I nag but I really can’t help feeling you are missing a huge opportunity, and your stuff is such a high quality it’s not even as if it’s going to be a huge effort.
Personally I just want to be able to watch again (no Paypal account – I am banned -not my fault!)
    Good luck.

Nice, beautiful films again! and the PayPal thing is not cumbersome at all. It works fine, also from the Netherlands.
