KTL West Country Rivers 1 – Mylor and England’s last sailing fishermen

Dear Sailors of small boats,

This is the first of four films I made about a winter I spent on the Fal - that was just after buying Lily M and before moving her to scotland.

This one runs to 15 minutes long.

    Dylan’s back….yay !!

it’s like you’ve never been away, great footage, informative narrative… what’s not to like !

Loving the oyster fishermen….but man what a life…. do they get a government grant to do that ?

I’m buggered if I’d get up at all hours and go out in all weathers to do that… so fair play to ’em.

    Oysters…discuss…

Amy, my daughter in law, just about sums it up….

“they say that you can taste the sea when you eat an oyster…. well I’ve tasted the sea and I don’t like it !”

    ’nuff said really

    No worries

if all you want to do is to find out what happened next then the films look OK on a phone – so the next time you are stuck at an airport …..

for your big telly experience there are loads of wonderful free films in fantastic quality

    I have eaten one oyster

    not nice

I think that the sailing fishermen worked bloody hard

today;s fishermen don’t know they have been born.

If course when it was raining they were still working while I was hiding under the hood making tea

    Hi Dylan,
Nice to see you back in action. Does the new Centaur and prolonged period of activity mean retirement has finally arrived??
Looking forward to seeing your take on all my old Cornish haunts where I grew up on the water. Brings back memories of a less frantic time.
    Bye for now.

    Mark.

    Hi Dylan,
Great to see you back. I have to say I agree with Martijn, the low res both on YT and vimeo dont do your movies justice and just look poor even on my Tab.
As an MOB, I feel I have enough pointless clicking and entering and box checking in every day life without now having to go through these unnecessary steps just to have a similiar experience watching your extremely enjoyably movies in good quality.
I too have tapped in the past and am happy to do so again, but please find an alternative to this new unnecessary faff, as forme, having to capitulate into this modern clickerty click world everytime just takes some of the good out of your movie watching experience.

My wife who has listened to my version of your saga since the beginning says, “don’t cast you pearls before swine.” You’re our man in the sailboat and video trenches and we know you’ve tried almost everything to make it work for all of us.. We are with you. AND now with this repetition I will remember my PayPal password for the win.

    thanks Robert

paypal remembers who I am automatically – which is a bit spookie

Looks like I am going to need a PayPal account. I have been trying to avoid it but I’ll do what ever works. Thanks Dylan.

*Please* consider approaching Amazon tv. There is now a UK narrowboater on there (he also couldl not/did not want to rely on Youtube earnings) and one on the BBC. This stuff is marketable right now – lots of interest in boats and sailing.
I know I nag but I really can’t help feeling you are missing a huge opportunity, and your stuff is such a high quality it’s not even as if it’s going to be a huge effort.
Personally I just want to be able to watch again (no Paypal account – I am banned -not my fault!)
    Good luck.

Nice, beautiful films again! and the PayPal thing is not cumbersome at all. It works fine, also from the Netherlands.

    Hello Dylan,

I’d like to send you a bung (cash type!) , as I love your films, but I don’t use Paypal and don’t really understand it. I can, quite literally, send you a cheque or a bank transfer, but (not being brilliant at IT) I don’t think I can see the films, can I? It looks from this page like I pretty much have to do it through Paypal, but I think you are worth more than $1 !

    email me if you like.

    Hi Dylan,
I have tried the recommended ways of getting to your West Country Rivers films. I used the PayPal link the first time which seemed to work. Not had any luck since then. I get an error message from PayPal or redirected to their login page then it goes nowhere. I’m as interested in the ongoing saga of your exploits as about Scotland, glorious though it looks. There is an overlap between what you’re doing and what I’m trying to do myself also with limited resources. I bought some DVDs off you ages ago and made a contribution at some point, I think. I got a brief but helpful response back from yourself which was fine. The PayPal route to your generally excellent stuff would work for me if you can get it can get it sorted out. I am
am a bit thick but I use PayPal quite often and am usually able to deal with it.
    Thanks
    Michael Purse
