KTL 15 2 West of Scotland – Slate Islands and Loch Etive

The Slate Islands are probably the most astonishing place I have been to on my journey around the UK. I hope to return and do some more filming there one day.

How old Cowper navigated them in his engineless 30 tonner I have no idea.

I take my hat off to you Frank - wherever you are.

The dollar per flm appears to be working.

Which is nice.

It seems like good way to go. I am comfortable with it - and so are  most of the regulars. It takes the doubt awaay about what to pay. fewer people are watching but more are paying.

Which is fine.

Great video Dylan. Know the area well from the land side so it was great to get a perspective from the water. You are a brave man going under Connel bridge and past the Falls of Lora. I have seen some spectacular tide rips around there. What is the air draft of the centaur? According to the chart the bridge clearance is only14 metres so must have been tight.

Well I enjoyed that. Best value I’ve had for a pound since the sixties when you could get 5 pints and a pie and still have your bus fare home.

argh! trying to download and its trying my patience. I’ve stood my round a few times and did again today but the whole process is frustrating.
OK enough complaining. any chance you have any DVDs left? I will pay postage as well as cover the DVD. I love the Scotland ones especially and have been reading up on the clearances. Have you read Tom Devine’s Clanship to Crofters War? I haven’t seen the west coast rivers yet but loved the east coast ones isp Lincloln and Lindisfarne.
back to videos-what’s the scoop? I am in rural Ontario deep in the Canadian Shield and reception is dicey. Sailing is good here but I have only canoe and plastic kayak for a mill pond but still itching to get the fleet back on the water. So you see I need your videos! :)
    best regards,
    Anne

    no quibble refund sent…

DVDs are dead now, the burner finally burned itself out so it went to the dump

One bloke here with low bandwidth paid his grandson – aged 14 – £20 to download all the films and put them on a memory stick.

You might be trying to download the 4K version which is 18 gigs – it needs a fast internet link – plus a fast computer.

The HD is a much more easily digested 3gigs.

If youy click on the vimeo logo on the player frame that will take you to the vimeo website page/ There you can click on the download button and that will offer you everything from about 180mb to 18 gigs.

Nice one Dylan. Are you looking at boats again to top up the forward workload? A fisher perhaps?

Thanks E, still only about half way to the fisher – films currently erning about $150 in the two weeks after posting – then dropping away. It is hard to find the motivation to spend a day in the editing shed when the sun is shining. It might be time for you to buy a video camera and start filming the western isles. I doubt that I will get back to scotland until the pension kicks in sometime in 2022

thanks Chris – Fisher fund is slowly rising while fisher prices are slowly falling. If I dodge the Covid Bullet then it will get closer
