Wells Bar – your scene of the rill cutting its way across ripple marks in the sand – could be an aerial view of the deserts of Nevada, the foot-wide rill a miles wide dry wash filled only every hundred years or so in a monsoon downpour. Many an hour as a grad student i looked at stereoscopic aerials like that mapping fault scarps.
