A lot of money to lose in the North Sea when the batteries fail or it goes out of range…..

BTW D. have you seen this? http://bbc.in/1dLn80t – interesting style, and they’ve filtered out the engine noise it appears.

strangely enough…. had some emails on just such a subject today

they used a drone in the film as well

engine noise… you can hear it when it is bouncing back from the walls – but at the front of a 70 foot canal boat you cannot hear the engine

There’s a waterproof version of the Phantom that floats called the Mariner, and can be launched right off the water’s surface. The choice of cameras is limited, but you don’t have to land on water if you want a better camera-option.

This one is more-pricey (now), but it’s sooooo cool. And no pesky fish-eye distortion.

Imagine what the next generation of camera-drones will be capable of. Perfect for investigating tidal channels ahead, or for looking over riverbanks or documenting from above the riverine-fringe.
