all went well, no keel flop, seacocks all watertight
engine started at third go, then overheated on tickover but fine at higher revs, I came through the bridge and am now moored up to a pontoon at the lovely Arun Yacht club - £14 a night.
It has a lovely warm shower room so I shall be clean tonight.
I changed the impellor for an old one and the engine then stopped overheating
got lekkie and internet, dog is lying on her mat watching me to see when I start cooking - I shall do that as soon as the tide turns and the boat comes level again.
I fear I shall be here for a week waiting for the tides and weather to change so that i can get into Chichester harbour

With the exception of a week at £14 a night I would call that good news all round
A lekkie is a leak ( in Dutch), but what is it in English?
By the way, congratulations!
Congrats you’ve had a watertight launch, always a bonus when the water stays outside the boat.
I did wonder about your plan to get into Chi harbour this week as the chug up Mill Rythe to HYC is one that might be a bit dodgy in the night if you’re new to it looking at Google Map’s satellite pics.
Dylan,
glad to hear it went so smoothly, I’m sure you can find plenty to do until the weather turns.
Congratulations Dylan, I`m sending you a wee Leprechaun for Harmony to bring you Luck on your travels, especially after your launch and maiden voyage on St Patricks Day. Regards, James.
Well done Dylan. Excellent news.
Glad you’re getting one of the wee folk from James.
As to weather, you might find this web site useful

Congratulations on a succesfull launch. How nice to get in without surprises. Regarding haylards and sheets. I give mine a round in the washingmachine once a year, they be like new.
Just need cheaper eggs :)
Excellent news D, now where’s the piccies of her in the water then?
Nice one Dylan. You are better off entering Mill Ryth in the daylight for the first time. The channel is unlit and has a dodgy dog leg just before you enter the boat yard. Good luck. Phil
Looking forward to joining you for a sail. Starting to watch forecast. Boat looks very smart. R
Hiya Dylan. Just catching up on your adventures. Been hospitalised and chopped about lately but things are lookin a bit brighter thanks to your vids. I was reminded of an old barging anecdote or two when you were entering Chichester in the Centaur and you saw a large yacht entering at low water. Don’t be fooled by large yachts. You never know what they are hiding underneath. The first anecdote concerns a Thames barge skipper who notices a small yacht following his every move down the through the Wallet channel. After a while the yacht skipper yells over, “Ahoy bargeman, do you know you’re aground?”, “Yus” replied the barge skipper, “An’ what’s more, so are you,,, I’ve come here to load up sand, What are you here for?”
The second, whether true or not aims to praise the craft of shallow draft.
When tacking up the Swale, the skipper of a 90 foot Thames barge shouts out “Bor,,, Is that thur seagull a swimmin’ or a walkin’?. He be a swimmin’ guvnor.” Two minutes later. “Is that thur seagull still a swimmin’ bor? He’s still a swimmin’ guvnor.”. Another two minutes go by and yet again the skipper shouts “Wha’s that ole seagull up to now bor, is he still a swimmin’? No guvnor, He’s a walkin’ now. … Right thee are Bor,,, Ready about..
Keep up the good work Dylan. Can’t wait to see the Scottish West coast since I was born and grew up there. Cheers.
