The face of a satisfied man at the end — great stuff.

Unremarked near the beginning- the long shots of the celebrated sailing yacht Fiona.

She has at least three circumnavigations via both Cape Horn and via Panama.
One Northwest passage circumnavigation of North America. Trips to Antarctica.
    Many transatlantics.

Captained by Eric Forsyth a Brit expat to Canada and America.
    Still sailing as an octogenarian.

Seen from the eastern side of the North Sea this is one of the more uplifting things coming from the UK side for some time. This might just be right in content and length and for me it works better or just as good as any meditation or mindfulness exercise. Going sailing like this before season start is well worth at chip in.

‘Great day, great day, great place.’ What else is there?
Hoping you get back there someday. Cheers!

A wildlife refuge with no dredgers and no trawling. Completely agree, will one day be recognised as the best thing about them, but mention it and you get a lot of extra grumbling about how they frighten gulls into dropping their chips, creep up and surround you, steal all the wind and make you pay attention. All uncalled for.

Jill warned me that if I shared too many opinions on my films I would end up with just 1000 old blokes who agree with me and the rest will go to watch less challenging films. She was dead right.

Don’t let them grind you down. Opinions are interesting and stimulate conversation.
Without them, everything becomes Prince Charles’s “grey goop” with a few pneumatic Australian sailing videos floating on the surface.

It’s all hypocrisy, anyway. They’re just looking for opinions they agree with so they can stay in their little bubble.

Change of subject: you’re only 60? Years of sailing in you, yet! Still, if you’re wanting a warm boat I spotted a candidate. Good design, well founded. Long keel, legs, wheelhouse, gaff rig. Don’t know what you were planning to spend on a Fisher. This one is over priced at 11k. You could haggle down to 9 something. If interested, will send link.

    Hi Dylan,
Nice to see you’re still at it and plugging away at the circumnavigation. Things got rather busy since last contact.
If you get the chance to sail on the CC take it. Spent a very happy fortnight exploring it on a Centaur. If you don’t go down the lock flights at either end there are not that many locks to go through (most of the remainder are concentrated at Fort Augustus), but I totally get there is so much to explore besides.
Re: opinions – keep em coming. It makes the videos far more interesting – and I often find myself chuckling as you switch from lyric naturalist to Grumpy Old man mode even if I don’t always share your opinion (though often I do).
Humans are far to complex for the ‘one size fits all’ conversations I sometimes feel are pushed on us nowadays when expressing a different opinion is called a ‘micro-aggression’.
    More power to you mate.
BTW – I am 66 so loads of sailing left in you. I will be playing catch up with you once I retire in 18 months time. (The Goose is up for sail in Maryland – time for something smaller and easier to short/single hand when I get back to the UK). PS. don’t worry about refunding the dollar. It’s not worth the currency transaction fee.

PS – Does your ‘sign in’ still work. I can’t find anywhere to register.

Jill says that I should be “nicer” in the films – she is dead correct when she points out that I will alienate people one at a time – seagull owners, big planing mobos, scoop sterned french losenges. However, there are a few people who like the way the films are… and in the long run I think they will be better than some of the vacuous pap that does so well on youtube. I have now stopped trying to please the ever changing youtube algorithmns and just put what I want to in the films. It is what I think and what I feel.

Moving off youtube seems to be working well(ish). I have about fifteen more films to post this winter and then I will see if I have enough cash for a warm boat for a cold place.

I have cycled some of the Caledonbian Canal and driven its length several times. I would like to spend a winter on it before I stop sailing.

The pension will kick in when I am 67 – then I will be able to afford to keep a boat 500 mies from home and sail even more than I do now.

    Dylan

PS- let me know if the mechanics of the $1 per film thing is working right.

Hi Dylan. Not sure where to put down a point as too many possible entries. Anyway, picking up on your point at 67 years young, will be the start of everything solved. Not sure where you are on the age chart, but rather than wish your life away, may it not be an idea that while you wait for the magic moment, you revisit some of the early locations, and observe what changes may have taken place, for good, bad, or indifferent. Keeps the MOB audience in touch, and contributions coming in. Just a thought. Ted
