North America is getting a bit of a winter pasting at the moment - and that is always good for KTL
Bring on the cold lads
this from Martin who was kind enough to set the shot up
Dylan
Attached is a picture of the snowfall of March 14th with your latest “West coast of Shetland” video playing in foreground. Your videos help feed my sailing addiction while the boat is in its cradle and covered with snow. At this point the harbor is still frozen (see second picture – the white lumps in background are boats covered in shrink-wrap). What I love about your videos is that most of the footage is actual sailing as opposed to pictures of people swimming, diving, spearing fish etc. (Not that I don’t enjoy the occasional shots of well-filled bikini). As a (long ago) Geography major, I also love the various nuggets of geology, history, economics and politics you weave into the commentary. Some of the same things are present here but of course the history is generally much more recent. The videos have also shown me areas of the English coastline (and indeed countryside) that I have never had a chance to explore so I am eagerly awaiting your return journey via Ireland and the West Country.
As to your concerns about old age catching up – I have at least 9 years on you and we have for a shining example a club member who still single-hands his boat most days at the tender age of 90!
So there is still time.
Martin
Martin, almost open water, where is the harbour? Big pines in background, so guess north east.
Thx D, closer look saw chimneys of incinerator etc on eastern harbour.. Only 100mi west of me, but we have crap weather right now.
Yes, the weather here in Pennsylvania’s infamous snow belt has gone far beyond brutal today. Probably to remain so for the next day or two, at least. Like Martin, I’ve been “feeding my sailing addiction” with KTL videos in the interim, but now another problem has cropped up: KTL video addiction. Oh lord, if only I hadn’t discovered that KTL duck punt series… Spent half the morning surfing the Web looking at kits, free plans, downloading and expanding the West Mersea punt drawings…
C’mon, Dylan, that’s downright cruel! And I haven’t even got halfway through Season 5 yet…
don
Hi D. What with everything going on in your life this winter (no pun intended) have you had a chance to exercise your duck punt? T
Good to hear that you are not totally shore-bound!
Was that all based on exploring the Deben, or were you able to go further afield on occasion?
