Recreating Shoal Waters

There is a bloke near here called Mark Austin, who has a bit of a thing about Charles Stcok.

this is Charle's own website

the real boat is now owned and sailed by Tony

But Mark is working on an amazing project to make an almost exact copy of Stock's iconic little boat.

This is his blog

This is about Dylan Winter's Blog, Sailing around Britain.

A really interesting, blog, that is well written and illustrated. Makes a very good match to what you produce Dylan. Btw if you or anyone would like a break from boats, and an aeroplane rebuild would suit, then take a look at the blog Bristol Scout Rebuild.

Having read through Mark’s tale I think he is a lucky bloke to have all that space and such a good tool kit to work on his project. I find myself envious of someone who owns 20 G clamps, does tha make me a sad case? Must get out more.

I was interested to read Mark’s comments re using Coppercoat antifouling for the bottom of the boat. Something that I have been sucking teeth over for some time. While an expensive outlay the life is such that it must save work and money in the long run recoating with conventional stuff over time. Maybe worth a thought Dylan, if you go the route of a Fisher, as may save fuel as well, as one would be pushing a relatively clean bottom through the water. Hmm.

Having completed Shoal Waters and sailed her locally Mark appears to have gone aground as she has been tied up on his pontoon for quite few weeks. What next Mark after all that work on her?
