I have been thinking about tides recently

This is about Dylan Winter's Blog, Sailing around Britain.

Lovely Dylan…… seeing the trusted stick depth sounder it reminded me I bought a handheld depth sounder as a present for someone. A lovely jobbie for scoping out unknown creeks. This isn’t it, but a UK version of the same….

    Dylan,
I really do enjoy the way you capture twilight on water in your films.
Something magical when The Sun sets on water.
Are you too a fan of the artist John Atkinson Grimshaw?

The most cheery thing of the day. I love the Humber. It’s huge and empty with the most beautiful bridge I know. Your films with the mudbanks, surging tides and mesmerising flocks of avocets are just terrific. Does anyone know who is running Hull City of Culture 2017? These films should be a centrepiece for a city that has almost lost its connection with the huge swirling estuary that gave it its reason for being.

Keep up the good stuff. Time to tap the PayPal.

I really enjoyed the Humber system – amazing tides, lovely backwaters, astonishing birdlife

Do you think you’ll be returning there again? Your filming up there was really good. Hoping to have a sail boat on there this year, not holding my breath though. All the ones that have looked the most affordable and worth buying are down your way or south coast

what does affordable mean to you?

… better to be sailing the boat you can afford now than dreaming about the boat you think you want.

Iya. Watched this video again. Love the humber. I walked out to the harbour at tetney/boat club not long since. I walked and walked, didn’t make it to the sand fort, the main channel to louth canal was in the way, but a nice walk all the same. I’m saving the best i can for the sailboat fund, but not holding my breath for this year, but I was readin up on a review and saw this. http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1987/Steadfast-24-Motor-Sailer-3053290/Tollesbury-Saltings/United-Kingdom#.WXI9QITyuM8 Its in dollars, which means it’ll be less in £. Is this your boat? Looks to be possibly best of both worlds. Tiller out the back and a wee wheel inside. Get some heating on it and might you be happy. Hope alls well. Get back on the humber, a tour de yorkshire worth watching

Looks like that one has sold. Here is another, much cheaper. Centaur money really. Bargain? http://www.forbesboatcare.co.uk/Steadfast.php I’d like something like that, but not able to start there
