Silhouette snapper Bob said “well I have been rewarded”

Hello Dylan,

I’ve watched and been inspired by a few of your films. What I have seen has been both informative and wholly entertaining.

I hadn’t realised until I revisited that you had been forced to sell your boat to make ends meet, a truly devastating blow!

I am a “would be sailor”, not very experienced but I’ve done maybe a few thousand miles and owned a few boats. I am currently restoring my fourth with the dream of circumnavigating the UK – been done by many before me I know, but it would still be fantastic to achieve it.

I need to go back and view your films from the beginning, I’ve started in the middle or end and missed most of the action. What I have seen of your videos, blog and witty commentary have inspired me to continue with my quest, and I’d like to see you complete yours.

You asked why I would send money for no reward. Well I have been rewarded. I’ve been entertained and inspired for very little, and I’ll send more quite happily. If all of your viewers contributed just £2 you would be back on your way again!

Many thanks and I hope you can continue.

Bob

Being MOB from 2010 I can only suggest you start a ktl 0 . It firstly give wonderful insight to Dylan attitude to sailing and his determination to

the old ones look a bit soupy now – not really fit for a big HD telly.

They certainly are brilliant little yachts. Even better, to use Dylan’s advice to ” sail the yacht you can afford now.” they are supremely affordable.

Good ones are under a grand, plus an outboard. Most go for the value of the motor and trailer. Although a bit short of space, they are light and sail really well, unlike the slug! They also have excellent support and advice through Hurley and Silhouette Associations.
    Fantastic minimalist yachts.

she should be in a sailable condition by end of May. The whole boat insde and out is stripped to a shell plus I’ve got to rebuild the rudder.

Started inside as a lot of the woodwork was rotten and the companion way a total wreck. Should be painting interior within a week and will leave finishing off until winter.

I’ll drop you a photo next week of the interior.
