It’s a shame they’re so pricey I think we would see a lot more of them about, ditto electric bikes which I think are the future.

Way to go! The electric powered boat I built has a 40 pound thrust MinnKota which will drive the boat about the same speed as yours. A standard deep cycle 100 amp battery will run the boat for 2.5 hours and use about 1/2 the available power. I named my boat “Not so Fast”. I should have called it “Knot so noisy).
Torqeedo motors are one of the very best. Show the people the prop – very efficient. The MinnKota has a system in the controller which conserves electricity – it uses electronics instead of resistors for speed
control.
