hopefully the engine fiddling is almost done. My aim is to never really think about the bloody things. Their sole purpose is to get me into a position where I can go sailing. if I never had to look at another in my life that would be lovely. An engine that required no more than turning a switch would be a marvelous thing. I have an outboard that has no more than an on-off switch. The future of quiet evening sails is electric.

I have had a few emails from blokes asking for more fiddling and fettling videos – they are easy to do… so here they are.

    Eveinrude 2 pulls from warm,
Tohatsu 10? From cold and smokey? the heavy 4 strokes have oil in the crank case so don’t like being stored on their sides.
Oil get in all the wrong places……..
    Cheers Warren

My tohatsu started with one or two provided you gave the priming bulb a good squeeze. Never idled well at all though and when docking would be prone do die at just the wrong time.

I am slowly learning its foibles – good cold starter – no so good restarting when hot – I shall try being more enthusiastic with the bulb – thanks Chuck
