the tests showed that the Torqeedo will shove the one tonne trailer sailer along at four knots for four miles
not bad at all and not much worse than the tender at full blatt
Pretty good test, it does however show the range limitations of the torq when it’s pushing the bigger boat along. Probably ok for mooring up etc but then would you pay £1,500 + just to do that?
Also blame it on my poor old abused ears but to me it does make an annoying noise at full blat
Probably more suited to the dinghy methinks.
Enjoy Amsterdam and good luck finding a suitable bike….
And I don’t mean the ones in the windows of De Walletjes !
Cheers

That’s impressive. Much better than I would have expected. Four miles at full power means probably 8-12 miles throttled back. Perfect for exploring a shallow creek, or a pre-dawn marina departure. Can you extend the range with one or two deep-cycle gel batteries down in the bilge?
Anecdotally I have heard that the E-prop is quieter at full power due to a different drive below-water. Though it might not have the same performance.
There are few sounds as nautical as the thumpa-thumpa of a low-rev one-lung diesel.
Small noise insulated generator far away in the anchor locker where you wouldn’t hear it and you have a diesel electric propulsion system?
Yay!! It’s Jon…!
