Brings back good memories: when our children were young I used to tell them, when we saw the tide coming in quietly like in this video: “Look, this is the universe in action”…
But are you serious about disturbing the peace and quiet of the place by sending a drone buzzing over the marsh?
Cheers,
Herman
Ha! That’s a rather slippery slope of reasoning you’re on, my young friend! Are you rally saying “I know that what I’m doing is wrong, but somebody else is guilty of greater sins and therefore, what I do is right, really”?
Methinks there may be a Jesuit hidden somewhere inside you…
Cheers,
H
Ah – we seem to be talking about different kinds of disturbance.
My concern was the peace and quiet for those who are around enjoying an undisturbed few hours on the marshes – and I was thinking of some comments somebody made earlier about mobo’s… And personally I hate jetskis as much as I think you do!
You on the other hand seem to argue that for the birds it doesn’t make much of a difference, that they are used to it and really don’t mind a little additional buzzing all that much. On that you’re probably right.
By the way, I’m looking forward to see the next videos of the long journey, and I’ll be ready with the Paypal-thing.

You should take the duck punt out there and use a poll like the wildfowler chaps used to, it looks ideal duck punt country. Hell if you give me a call I will come down and bring my punt for a ditch crawl with you. If your water gets any shallower you might as well go out in your wellies. Looks awesome
Two creeks diverged in a green marsh,
And sorry I could not sail both
And be one explorer, I pondered and said “harsh”
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the slimey grey mud.
Sorry couldn’t resist it!
“Down but not out” ???
I would say not down or out.
Rather on the water in any type of craft – does not matter.
Its being there that counts. Very pleasant.
Thanks for sharing.
I was watching this video on TV when my 7 year old son came in the room.
Son: What are you watching?
Me: I am watching a sailing movie.
-At this point there was no person in the picture only forward pointing camera from rowing vessel and silence.
Son: Is it he who looks like Donald Trump?
Me: (After laughing) This is the Englishman I normally watch.
-Then D started speaking in the movie but no person yet visible .
Son: Sounds like he who looks like Donald Trump.
-And when the camera was put on D’s face.
Son: It IS he who looks like Donald Trump!
…So D for Donald?
Hahaha…..He’s right! Trump’s revenge for all the previous I guess. No wonder you hide out in the marshes.
I was running around there this morning trying to expand the lungs and get rid of a persistent cough, lovely sunshine, few people around, stop every now and again to look at the boats. I know you weren’t around else I’m sure i would have heard your oars clattering away in the distance, get them sorted,
Does that count as a minor rollicking?
Back up north now. Cloudy. No wonder you ran away.
But Dylan’s needs are many fold and soon he explored some more,
And strange things happened to Ron G who was jogging nearby one day.
Was that the reeds a-rustling? Or the slapping of water in ditches?
Or was it Dylan’s clattering oars a rattling in their crutches?
They won’t forget Dylan, (Dylaaaaaaaan)
As he rowed the fastest blue scow in the East
The Road Not Taken
BY ROBERT FROST
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;…………
You know, if Dylan wore a pair of NHS round specs he’d be the spit of Benny Hill too. Obviously a man of many faces. All he needs is a posse of yachty babes to start chasing him at the end of every film and he’d get so many taps he’d be back in business in no time. You might have started something Bryan!
hmmmmm..
….All he needs is a posse of yachty babes to start chasing him at the end of every film and he’d get so many taps he’d be back in business in no time……
me thinks this is an excellent idea and should not be to $$$$$ to do….. what do you think Dylan ? maybe get a local cheerleaders to help the cause…… I am sure Jill would understand !
On more serious note – I really enjoyed the gunholking video.
Z.
I enjoyed it,
Every time I drive over a bridge I look down on the river below and wonder……. “has a boat ever got this far upstream?”. A canoe can of course but then that’s cheating.
So the challenge with a few house rules is: How close can you sail / row / punt / paddle a boat to the source of a river?
House rules:
Boat must never leave the water
At least one Crew member must remain on board at all times
Boat must turn around and make the return trip – no reversing with the current
No engines, not even electric
Start and finish point must be recognised ‘end of navigation’
Photo of boat and crew at furthest point giving grid ref and name of river
Have I missed anything out?
