So why exactly do I share my money, beer, food, experiences and yes, love with you?
Let me take you back a few years....
I've sailed a bit, always owning small plastic boats, (apart from a beautiful Dauntless gaffer that leaked like a sieve), so I was well into the small boat vibe and as a then neighbour of Charlie Stock I was definitely into shallow water cruising, mud banks, and the unique East Coast topography.
I also played in a band, so I was coming home late and still a bit buzzy from the gig, so, in order to wind down I got into the habit of cracking open a bottle of wine and watching stuff on the computer with my headphones on ...no, not that...bad boy...dirty boy...on your rug !
I can't remember exactly how I came across your site but as I started watching I just had to see what happened next, I realised I was a few vids into your journey so I searched and found the first one...the start of the journey...and just watched and watched....a second bottle opened and....daylight! I had spent nearly the entire night watching your work and enjoying every minute of it.
I immediately empathised and identified with you, same age, (OK I give you a year), same mentality, same type of boat, same budget, in fact I sold my Dauntless and bought a Mirror Offshore to emulate your experiences, I was that impressed with the capabilities of your little boat
Little did I know (I bought it sight unseen on flea-bay), it didn't have bilge keels so it kept falling over when the water went away....Doh!
After that first night I started watching on a regular basis...I really wanted to know what happened next, I felt involved.
Then I noticed the donate button.....no brainer!, I wanted this to continue, I was enjoying it and if I sent money then it would. So I did....and Dylan said "Thank You"....I was chuffed! so I sent some more...Dylan said "Thank You" again!...I like this man.
I don't know how many years ago all that was five, six, maybe more? but I'm still chipping in, sending you warm socks and buying the boats that you break. Keep it going...
Cheers,
Richard.
Just looking at that picture…the sails are miniscule!
It’s a wonder the thing moves at all
TG for the Volvo
:0)
A boat that does not need to prove itself as it took D around the South and East Coast, Also D has been ‘framed’ in the photograph passing ‘The Albatros’ in Wells Next to The Sea Harbour!, sailing past in The Offshore Mirror. Have a look at The Albatros web site.
Seen it !
I pointed it out to ‘Captain Tom’ the owner of the Albatross when I was up there…..He was quite chuffed !
