Finding Harmony

I went for a bit of a bike ride in Great Yarmoth and spent a very pleasant few hours poking around the docks and boat yards.  I went into this place

in the marina were two remarkable boats.

First of all this wooden monster parked in one corner

hats off to the people who are prepared to get stuck into such a massive project

on a more modest scale - guess what we found in another corner of the yard

and finally.... this dropped into my inbox from Danna White

I love the detail - the bike is there, the red kettle is there, the outboard bracket is in place

excellent woman this one I reckon

Did you know harmony was there ? and who owns her now ?

I knew she was ashore in Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth and now belongs to Jon, who sailed with me up the North Sea. He is keeping her in good nick. It is still weird seeing her though

Happy New Year Dylan, hope everything turns out well for you – or should I say turns left?

If you don’t mind my saying so, that’s a very young-looking Dylan Winter in Ms. Dana White’s picture. Can all us MOB’s send in photos and have our own caricature done?

over Christmas we were thinking up a name for an activity that is both a job and a hobby.

It is, I believe, what is now known as a Jobbie.

Do you think it will stick?

Sometimes life is just sorting out the rope bag.

Best wishes and fair winds for the new year.
Health for our Commodore and his lady-wife.
And may there always be a little whisky left in the bottle for enjoying the sunset.

In Scotland the word Jobbie has a certain meaning which is best left unsaid. It may be best to keep that word to yourself when there.

What a great pix from Danna. Captures the whole KTL ethos perfectly. Love it.

I’ve said goodbye to a number of boats over the years never to be seen again. You alway hope they are out there in fine shape and loved by there owner. love the caricature. Good boat to everyone!

it is odd how you feel differently about a boat to the way you do about a car or a bike or even a house.

  13. 5 January, 2017 at 2:30 pmRichard Aston says:

In Scotland Spobbie will just make them think you have had a wee dram too many.
Anyway surely KTL industries is more than semi paying? If not, you need to sack your board and take back control.

It will definitely stick to a shovel! Since you’re hobby is making you money, what about Honey? Maybe too susceptible to misinterpretation. So why not MOBBY? Mostly Old Blokes…… what? Buying You Time? MOBBYT.

    How true.

I can’t even remember all the cars I have owned – but I can remember in vivid detail every boat I have owned.

It must be because they are our passion as opposed to simply a means of transport.

for a while I was driving 50,000 miles a year – new Sierra every year. Boats are milestones in your life. Cars are just things.
